In this post I am sharing with you my current 5 favourite verses from the Bible. I would say that it is a bit different from my other posts but in a way it isn't. Here I am sharing with a few small parts of my favourite book.
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
~ Philippians 4:13
This has been a verse I've known for just about as long as I can remember. Whenever I was trying to think of a verse I had been memorising for school, this one would be the first one to enter my head even if it wasn't the one I was trying to think of.
This is such an important verse to me. Sometimes even with knowing this verse I don't think and say I can't do something. This verse reminds me that even If I can't do something, I don't actually have to do it alone. I always have Jesus within me. He will help me.
One area I know I can't do alone is writing a novel. I have so many story ideas and sometimes I am unsure which one and how to go about them. Sometimes it's better for me to pray and hand it to God. Know that with Him I can do it and he will be my guide.
(I almost wrote Philippians 4:13 again instead of the second verse I was thinking of.)
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." ~ Colossians 3:23
This is a very recent favourite one of mine. It is one I have heard of a few times and probably had memorised at one point for school. Recently I came across it again while reading Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris.
I've found that while I do things I don't often have the right mind set. I think of doing something as doing it for Mum, doing school work can often be more focusing on what the teacher. I want to keep this verse in mind because it reminds me to focus on God as I am doing any kind of work. That way as I do the work I will find joy in it because it is being done not for selfish reasons, not just because someone else asked me to. I am doing it because I want to do it for the Lord.
For I know the plan I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.

When I was younger and I think it was when I was around about ten, Mum wrote this verse in the front/back of my Bible. I'm pretty sure it was around I was ten because that is a time when I had to have surgery on my kidney and therefore was a time where I was likely feeling a bit nervous.
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. ~ James 2:17
This is a verse I want to keep on my mind. It one that keeps standing out to me lately. Sometimes I think when we've grown up in a Christian home there is a point where we can take our faith for granted. What this verse means for me is to not take my faith for granted. It's a relationship with God. What evidence in my life shows I am a Christian? Faith is dead with no actions, no works.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
~ Matthew 6:21
I remember one day reading this verse and the feeling I got can only be described as warm and gooey. In some ways it's hard to describe how much this verse means to me. It still today gives me that warm and gooey feeling.
I found the notebook where I wrote down the moment and getting the warm gooey feeling. It says that I at that time guessed that my writing is a treasure, but while that is true I think it's so much my deeper than that. God is my treasure and he has gifted me with a passion for writing. Both him and it are where my heart is at.
